Poem by Rahul Mark Antao
On my way to Quilombo
My thoughts they grow &grow
And the vision in my mind
Made me feel like I was blind
When the wind that blows its breeze
Passed its message to the trees
Their secrets came undone
Telling me I’m nature’s son
With the sun that hit my eyes
Took me soul by surprise
Now I’m lost in paradise
As I see the grass greener side
In the shade of banana trees
Did my heart stop and freeze
As I witnessed peace and love
Coming in from high above
Through the river’s meandering stream
I could tell it was a dream
And through the jungle’s wild
I was told I’m nature’s child
On my way to Quilombo
My thoughts they grow &grow
And the vision in my mind
Made me feel like I was blind
When the wind that blows its breeze
Passed its message to the trees
Their secrets came undone
Telling me I’m nature’s son
With the sun that hit my eyes
Took me soul by surprise
Now I’m lost in paradise
As I see the grass greener side
In the shade of banana trees
Did my heart stop and freeze
As I witnessed peace and love
Coming in from high above
Through the river’s meandering stream
I could tell it was a dream
And through the jungle’s wild
I was told I’m nature’s child
